Finnish Christmas Card 2014

My grandmother was Finnish, and preparing for Christmas was always one of the coziest times of year, and the smells of coffee, fresh pulla, pine needles, and birchbark decorations always make me think of her. When I was little I especially loved playing with all the beautiful, handmade wooden elves and reindeer she had, and looking through her many picture books, like Christmas in Noisy Village and Tasha Tudor's festive book Take Joy! My family has thus always had a strong cultural flavor in Christmastime, and, as this is the first time I'll be away from home for all but the first few days before Christmas, I just had to make this to get the festive spirit I grew up with flowing strong.
